Step Up to Key Set Costumer

Learn correct set etiquette and protocols for costuming the lead actor and actress on the film set in this course. Students will learn how to be an effective and professional key set costumer to the lead actor/actresses. They will also learn how to prioritize the workload and balance the working relationships within and outside your department.

  • What’s needed and not needed in your kit

  • Know your limits, those will be tested

  • Above and beyond continuity and comfort

  • Reading and interpreting call sheets/scripts

  • Working with difficult and/or BIG personalities

Alison started her costuming career working with a diverse and complex group of talented artists in the Cirque du Soleil, on permanent and touring shows. This launching pad has helped her balance her costuming skills on and off the set for the last 20 years. From London to NYC to New Orleans, she has worked with and learned from some of the greats, including Anne Hathaway, Sharon Stone, Gerard Butler, Jennifer Anniston, Jessie Eisenberg, Kristen Stewart, Kevin Costner, and Woody Harrelson. Alison believes in sharing what she has learned with up and coming costumers. To date, she has taught over 70 students in her “Costuming in Film” class, and has completed the IATSE TTF Train the Trainer course.
