OSHA 30-Hour Construction with Focus on the Entertainment Industry | New York, NY

This OSHA 30-Hour Construction training uses examples from the entertainment industry. It covers Introduction to OSHA; Managing Safety and Health; Multi-Employer Worksites; Job Hazard Analysis; Accident Investigation; Materials Handling, Storage, Use, and Disposal; Personal Protective Equipment; Welding, Cutting, and Brazing; Workplace Fatigue; Hazard Communication/Globally Harmonized System; Foundations of Safety Leadership; Workplace Violence; Caught-In or -Between Hazards; Mobile Elevated Work Platforms; Powered Industrial Trucks; Fall Protection; Stairways and Ladders; Scaffolds; Rigging – Cranes and Hoists; Ergonomics; Struck-By Hazards; Electrocution; Mental Health Awareness; Confined Spaces; Bloodborne Pathogens; Emergency Action and Fire Prevention; Noise Hazards; and Hand & Portable Powered Tool Safety.

Upon completion, students receive their OSHA 30-hour Construction completion card.

DATES: April 8–12, 2024

TIME: 9 a.m.–5 p.m. daily

LOCATION: New York, NY

COST: The five-day, in-person course is free of charge for participants. The IATSE TTF cannot cover costs for travel, lodging, meals, or per diems associated with travel or participation in this course.

OSHA OUTREACH TRAINERS:

Bill McCord, IATSE TTF Training Specialist, has a Masters in Cinema Studies from the University of New Orleans and a Bachelor of Fine Art in Technical Theatre from the North Carolina School of the Arts. He has over 25 years of film production experience on movies, television shows, music videos, and commercials throughout the US. He has held positions as Business Agent and Assistant Business Agent for IATSE Local 478; film production, cinema studies, and technical theatre professor at the North Carolina School of the Arts; Executive Director of Production for the Home Shopping Network; and Production Manager at Hanesbrands Theatre in Winston-Salem, NC. Bill became an OSHA Outreach Trainer in 2013, and he helped develop the IATSE TTF OSHA 10-Hour General Industry with Focus on the Entertainment Industry course with the ICAP.

Anita Hartsock, IATSE TTF Training Specialist, is a member of IATSE Local 22 in Washington DC and was the Director of Education and Training for the Local 22 Training Trust from 2012-2018. She received a Bachelor of Arts in Technical Theatre and Design from American University and has over 25 years of entertainment industry production experience in theatres, cruise ships, television, and rock ‘n roll. She is an OSHA Authorized Outreach Trainer for both General Industry and Construction, has her Advanced Safety Certificate from the National Safety Council, and holds OSHA's Safety and Health Fundamentals Certificates in General Industry and Construction. She teaches a variety of other classes and is extremely passionate about workplace safety. She divides her time between DC and Denver, and when not working, makes music and swims ridiculously long distances for fun.
